What is the Open Coffee Club all about?

It is an attempt to establish recognized, open and regular meeting places where entrepreneurs can meet with investors (and anyone else who fancies coming along) in a totally informal setting. The key is a regular place and a regular time - it's not important who comes along, some days it might be no one - just that people know if they want to meet, this is the time and this is the place.

The North-West Connects Business Conference is shaping up.

From Heather James, Sligo Open Coffee Club:

The plans for that conference in November are shaping up.

At the moment there is a temporary site at http://northwestconnects.ie/ and we are using Google Groups to communicate, so if you would like to join: http://groups.google.com/group/north-west-connect/

“The organisers include Kevin Peyton, Justin Knecht from Centre for Design Innovation, and a few others (Johnny Beirne came to the last meeting). At the moment we are developing a speakers list. It’s not really a bar-camp as we are going to start by aiming at certain people to give presentations. People who are entrepreneurs and hopefully can share some insight, tell some stories, and hopefully we can all learn something. We realise taht at the moment we have a very Sligo/Letirim-centric list, but we want to get people from all over the northwest. – please join and you can see the discussions, and maybe add in your own thoughts.”

Preparing for the November conference, Northwest Connects, we are looking to increase participation in the Open Coffee Sligo network. I hope you can help.

For the next meet-up, we have been invited by Justin Knecht from Centre for Design Innovation to hold our Open Coffee in their offices. Anne Louise O’Donovan has prepared a presentation: “The October tax deadline – tips to remove the annual dread!”

This is a great opportunity for self-employed individuals to get some practical advice about preparing their financial information. We think this will be of great interest to potential members of OpenCoffee Sligo.

The Sligo Open Coffee Club takes place on the 1st Thursday of each month at 11am, (usually – note change of venue for october) in the Clarion Hotel, Sligo. For further information on the Sligo Open Coffee Club, check out their website.
