What is the Open Coffee Club all about?

It is an attempt to establish recognized, open and regular meeting places where entrepreneurs can meet with investors (and anyone else who fancies coming along) in a totally informal setting. The key is a regular place and a regular time - it's not important who comes along, some days it might be no one - just that people know if they want to meet, this is the time and this is the place.

Summer Holiday Break & Westnet Expanding

At the last meeting on the 12th of August 2009 in the the Royal T.F. only four Mayo-based entrepreneurs attended. Unfortunately no new faces were seen. The attendants were: Paul Cunnane from Westnet, John Moran from mayoplus.ie, Frank Samms from Eirecast / Westerly Visions and myself.

Paul announced that they had set up a new sector on Achill Island, giving broadband access to nearly the whole island now (unfortunately still except The Valley, Dugort East and parts of Cashel). Dooagh and Keel had been connected in early summer. About a month ago a deflector on Corraun was activated, covering the village of Corraun, Cloghmore and Dereens. The sector that was added lately covers Dooega and Achill Sound. I will give an update on the exacto coverage on the Achill Online Internet Solutions Blog as soon as Paul has sent me some more details.

Apologies: I’ve been snowed under all summer (and rained in to some extent!). A nice problem to have–but I haven’t been able to make it to mOCC.

Also the plain fact is that it’s nigh impossible to run anything for business/networking here in the Summer. Chambers of Commerce, County Council, Networking clubs will all tell you the same.

Thanks for all your good work on mOCC.
