What is the Open Coffee Club all about?

It is an attempt to establish recognized, open and regular meeting places where entrepreneurs can meet with investors (and anyone else who fancies coming along) in a totally informal setting. The key is a regular place and a regular time - it's not important who comes along, some days it might be no one - just that people know if they want to meet, this is the time and this is the place.

Mayo entrepreneurs and investors get together over coffee

Press Release:

Entrepreneurs, investors and venture capitalists from all over Mayo – and further afield – are invited to attend forthcoming Mayo Open Coffee Club get-togethers being held around the county.

The Open Coffee Club concept, first established in London, allows for informal meetings between entrepreneurs and investors. It is completely free of charge, apart from paying for your own coffee, and the aim is to let people share business ideas and possibly potential tie-ups.

The Mayo Open Coffee Club is currently meeting every fortnight, and the following is the schedule for meetings over the next two months (all meetings are at 11am and last between one hour and 90 minutes):

  • Wednesday, March 25th, TF Royal Hotel, Castlebar;
  • Wednesday, April 8th, Innovation in Business Centre (IiBC), GMIT, Castlebar;
  • Wednesday, April 22nd, McWilliam Park Hotel, Claremorris (the hotel have kindly sponsored a meal for two for a free raffle among all who attend on the day);
  • Wednesday, May 6th, IiBC, GMIT, Castlebar;

All you have to do is turn up on the day. More details on the Mayo Open Coffee Club are available on http://mayo-open-coffee-club.org/, or you can email the organisers Chris B Kerndter (chris@achill-online.net) or Liam Horan (liam.horan@slinuatraining.com).

A number of specialist speakers will address the club from time to time. Start-up businesses, people with the germ of an idea, and investors looking around for something to put their money into, all find the Open Coffee Club a useful vehicle to get in touch with what’s happening in the business world around Mayo.
